Oil Paint

My work explores themes of womanhood, identity, and seeking autonomy through the lens of the female gaze.

Artist Statement

My work is a personal narrative about womanhood, seeking autonomy, and the struggle with identity during young adulthood all explored through the perspective of the female gaze. I explore my relationship to my physical body through the female gaze. This work reflects on past relationships and explores sexuality through that lens. I incorporate embroidery into my work because it is a traditionally considered women’s work that was not valued as fine art. In my paintings, embroidery is a way of both exploring and challenging notions of femininity.
