Ebony Iman Dallas is a fifth-generation Oklahoman and second-generation Somali American. 

A multimedia artist, arts educator, and writer, Dallas was featured in the Roman Bearden Centennial Celebration in 2011. She was a participating artist in the City of Tulsa's Greenwood Art Project commemorating the centennial anniversary of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre. Dallas’s work has been exhibited extensively in group and solo exhibitions and can be found in private collections in Namibia, Somaliland, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Building on her MFA thesis at California College of the Arts titled Painted Bridges, Dallas founded Afrikanation Artists Organization, based in Hargeisa, Somaliland, and Oklahoma City, to unify African-American, Afro-Caribbean, and continental African populations through art and design for community activism. 

Ebony is a proud graduate of the Oklahoma Arts Council’s Leadership Arts program and ArtistINC. 

Born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Candacee moved abroad to South Korea after earning a degree in English literature. After four years of loving life in East Asia, she moved to Myanmar, a different world entirely. In 2013, she had her first solo exhibition at Pansodan Gallery in Yangon, Myanmar. The title of the exhibit was "Balance and Order". From Myanmar, she moved to Budapest, Hungary for four years. Life in Europe was very different, and the urban landscape provided a whole different vibe of inspiration. From there, she moved to Baku, Azerbaijan, where she gathered influence from Islamic patterns and designs. In 2019, she moved to Brussels, Belgium. Many months in lockdown during the pandemic gave her time to go deeper into experiments with oil sticks, watercolors, and collage. 2021 brought her “home” to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she lives now. Revisiting old canvases and inspirational spaces is taking her work in a whole new, exciting direction.

Arthur Haywood’s murals for schools and illustrations celebrate the wonder of stories to encourage reading. His paintings are seen on murals for the Philadelphia Mural Arts Program, St. Joseph’s University, Elkins Park School, Summer of Soul film and Space and Time Magazine.  
 

He studied Illustration at The Maryland Institute College of Art before furthering his study of classical drawing and painting at Cambridge Street Studios in Philadelphia and Grand Central Atelier in New York. He is a recipient of the 2020–2021 Harriet Hale Woolley Scholarship at the Fondation des États-Unis in Paris. He worked with students at Lycée Paul Lapie, Ecollectif and André Malraux Elementary school to create murals depicting students immersed in the stories that have engaged them. He is a recipient of the 2022–2023 Tulsa Artist Fellowship where he is continuing his series of paintings for public schools and book covers to inspire reading. 

Sarah Bowen is an artist and educator based in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Her polymer clay art business, Tiny Things by Bowen, has been a staple of the Tulsa art scene since 2014; bringing you colorful gnomes, miniature foods, nerdy collections, and thousands of unique handmade magnets and accessories. Since taking her art full-time in 2017, her job description has expanded considerably to include illustrator, jewelry designer, Patreon creator, art instructor, private party entertainer, event organizer, and constant “content” creator! Sarah’s passion for teaching stems from her background in education as an ASL interpreter, which uncovered her natural talent for working with kids and a passion for filling the gap in arts education. Partnering with Gilcrease, Sarah works with every first grader in TPS throughout the school year. Additionally, independently guest instructing in other grades and districts. She loves teaching adults as well, join her for a drop-in workshop sometime! 

Positive Space Tulsa was founded by local artist, Nicole Finley (she/her/hers). An art space dedicated to Womxn* Artists, Positive Space Tulsa has an exhibition space, three artist studios, and an outdoor space for gathering, exhibiting and studio artist creative work.

*Positive Space Tulsa believes: The letter “x” in womxn recognizes all women, including gender-expansive identities. Positive Space Tulsa is for women, nonbinary, genderfluid, genderqueer, and agender artists (excluding those who identify as male/men). Womxn is pronounced the same as woman or women.

Born in Muskogee, Oklahoma, Penni grew up in the suburbs of Tulsa and got her first taste of metalsmithing in college. Though she pursued a career in Education, the idea of someday exploring metalwork was intriguing. That thought stayed with her and in 2015 she began creating hand fabricated jewelry.  

As a studio metalsmith, Penni spends most days transforming raw materials such as gold, silver, copper, natural stones, and sea glass into distinctive pieces of wearable art. Every step of the creative process, from design to fabrication, is completed by her and encompasses many hours of planning, concentrated effort, and precision work. 

Largely self-taught, Penni sometimes studies with expert metalsmiths to learn new techniques and hone her craft. Since 2016, she has participated in many local shows and has been juried into numerous exhibitions. In addition to shows, Penni sells her work via her website and home studio. 

Tulsa-based multidisciplinary artist, Alexander Tamahn has been honing his wide range skills and leveraging his invaluable partnerships to simultaneously elevate his community and his art. A Texas native, Tamahn grew up in Grand Rapids, MI and Chicago, IL where he attributes the beginning of his affinity for public art. Today, his multifaceted artwork can be seen all over Tulsa; on building facades and in galleries throughout and in private collections throughout the US. His engaging and spirited work is highly sought after and seems to perfectly marry his passions for creative expression and positive social impact.

Tamahn’s background in adolescent addictions counseling and community development have informed and enhanced his work with youth and young adults. Representation is an important factor in the projected outcomes of BIPOC youth and much of Alexander’s practice is dedicated to enhancing those outcomes through sharing his work and experiences and providing art making opportunities for them.
